I am a Colombian-American woman currently living in Washington D.C. I have been this woman in places around the world, where it means different things to different people, and I have played this identifier out in a variety of ways based upon my surroundings. As a student, I am on a journey to analyze the world around me and condense information I encounter by applying it to daily happenings. Follow me as I develop my thoughts as a woman in the professional realm I have recently entered, and as I use online sources to illuminate the issue that in the professional world there is a gap between how men and women are treated.

  1. Oh yes, there is most definitely a difference in how men and women are treated. It is mostly the men who are treated better. I can’t think of a single instance where the women had the upper hand and I have been a lot of places in my life so far. Even in the USA, where we are supposed to be so enlightened, women are still not treated equally. Not by a long shot. I do have to say, we are better than a lot of other places, like the Muslim countries where women aren’t even allowed out in public by themselves. I would HOPE by this day and age, people would have figured out that women ARE just as important and valuable as men, but nooooooo… it seems we still have a long way to go before people come to their senses about that FACT.
